The male line of heirs of Robert de Todeni  who founded the Castle came to an end in 1247 and titles passed into the family of the de Ros, Eleanor, sister and heiress of Edmund Lord Ros, married Sir Robert de Manners XI, of Ethall, in Northumberland, thus bringing Belvoir Castle to the Manners family where it has remained for over 500 years ever since.The arms granted alluded to that Royal connection the fleur de lys and the Lion of England. There were nine Earls the 9th receiving the title of the 1st Duke of Rutland and the Marquis of Granby in 1703. The present Duke of Rutland is David Manners, who is the 11th Duke of Rutland and his son, Charles, is now the Marquis of Granby. The Duke is a keen car driver and has one of the oldest Renaults type A1 that was his grandfathers car and took to the road back in 1908.

The Belvoir Fireworks Championship are held at Belvoir Castle.

Now in the third year of being held at the Castle the Belvoir fireworks championship are four great firework displays, three of the UK's best firework companies compete against each other with a ten minute firework display choreographed to music followed by a finale display from organisers MLE Pyrotechnics.This is a very popular event and booking is a must.

XMAS at Belvoir Castle.

Why not xperience a truly festive day out at Christmas in the wonderful setting.  Visitors are greeted by the roaring fires in the Castle along with the smell of roasted chestnuts and the sound of choirs and bagpipes.To round off the day the piper will lead everyone in carol singing in the atmospheric Guardroom all are welcome to come and join in. The Hunt and The Duke of Rutland's Hounds.

The puppy show is one of the highlights of the Belvoir Hunt held in May and is a great sporting and countryside event.
