The Yew Tree Avenue is a remarkable collection of clipped yew trees.

Clipsham Yew Tree Walk.

The Yew Tree Avenue is a unique collection of 150 clipped yew trees, most over 200 years old. The Avenue was once the carriage drive to Clipsham Hall, the centre of the Clipsham Estate. The topiary was begun in 1870 by Amos Alexander, the estate's Head Forester who lived in the gate lodge at the foot of the avenue. The walk takes you down the yew trees and along and round the woods, the walk is easy and you have the view of the Hall as you go down the walk.

The clipping is carried out each autumn by the Forestry Commission's local craftsmen. A small car park gives year round access to the Yew Tree Avenue. You are free to walk through the woods and along the Yew Tree Avenue.

Cycling is permitted throughout the woods and the Yew Tree Avenue.Horse riders are welcome throughout the wood, but please do not ride along the Yew Tree Avenue.
