Only 6 miles away from the historic market town of Melton Mowbray, The Crown Inn is a relaxed real ale country pub which serves terrific food.  Dating back to 1590 with a real history within the heart of this idyllic village, The Crown has recently been relaunched by new manager Rachel Higgins & new Head Chef, Sam Carter. 

This impressive and historic venue now offers the customer really classic and comfortable surroundings, which retain an air of the traditional with the inclusion of original features such as brewing room, however are now also excitingly coupled with a more contemporary feel. The atmosphere that is subsequently created in The Crown, is incredibly welcoming and relaxed, and therefore provides the perfect environment to sample a couple of pints of real ale from the extensively stocked bar, or enjoy fantastic food from a concise and well thought out menu.

Sam Carter and his team in the kitchen have put together a fantastic, constantly evolving selection of dishes that focus on using fresh, quality produce. The cooking is professional and shows a confident, assured hand. To start your meal choose from a selection that includes; Cropwell Bishop Stilton and Broccolli Soup and Goats Cheese & Black Pepper Crostini. To follow you’ll be faced with the tough decision of choosing between such delights as; Old Dalby Breast of Pheasant wrapped in streaky bacon with colcannon mash & a rosemary jus, Pan Fried Fillet of Sea bass served on a crayfish & lemon risotto or Wild Mushroom Gnocchi with an aged Parmesan & truffle sabay on.

The bar menu also carries well-executed pub favourites such as Home cooked ham served with two eggs and handcut chips or lighter meals such as Smoked salmon & crayfish salad with mizuna leaves & lemon.  Spare some room though, as the mouth-watering dessert selection could include delights such as Apple & Blackberry crumble souffle served with vanilla ice cream or Hot chocolate fondant served with roast chesnut ice cream.  For cheese lovers there is also a carefully chosen selection of cheeses available.  As with all really good country pubs, a classic Sunday lunch is also served with an excellent aged rib of beef, free range pork and vegetarian choices.
